Not a lot of people know or remember this, but there was a version of the Indian National Anthem which Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose favored at the time of Indian Freedom Struggle.

Netaji found enormous significance in needing a less Sansktized, more “martial” version of Jana Gana Mana. This was to be sung by the Indian National Army as a source of inspiration in preparing to fight to the finish.

The result was Subh Sukh Chain -  written by Capt Abid Ali and sung to the score composed by Capt Ram Singh Thakur (also the score composed for Jana Gana Mana).

Subh sukh chain ki barkha barse,

 Bharat bhaag hai jaaga!

Punjab, Sindh, Gujarat, Maratha,

 Dravid, Utkal, Banga.

Chanchal sagar, Vindh, Himaalay,

Neela Jamuna, Ganga!

Tere nit gun gaayen!

Tujh se jivan paayen!

Sab tan paaye asha!

Suraj ban kar jag par chamke,

Bharat naam subhaga!

Jai ho, jai ho, jai ho!

Jai, jai, jai, jai ho!

Why cant the Government reach out & clarify?

Now that the issue of corruption & “lokpal bill” has come to the streets, why cant the government reach out to people and clarify how the “lokpal bill” it has drafted is not a “jokepal bill”?

If at all the government is honest and has any serious intentions of tackling corruption why cant it addresses the issues raised by the civil society members?

Common, there is no dearth of media to communicate today.

Politicians should learn how to address peoples concerns instead of slinging mud on each other and on people with good intentions like Anna Hazare.

Atrocious Politician - Manish Tewari.

Manish Tewari, a Congress party spokesman, said Hazare was surrounded by “armchair fascists, overground Maoists, closet anarchists”.

This is utterly atrocious profanity.

This makes me give up that very little hope/respect left in me for the political establishment.

If these are the kind of responses people get for just demands & peaceful protests then these senseless politicians become the cause of anarchy.

Shame on you Manish, Shame on UPA.

Ambika Soni, the information and broadcast minister supports the arrest of anna hazare by saying “can you guarantee that a crowd of 10000 won’t disrupt anything?”.

Can you guarantee that disruptions won’t occur from the elected officials who have been involved in rampant corruption charges…

Another road accident to add to my list, fractured my big toe on my left foot, its been painful, I can’t put my foot on the floor yet or sit in front of the computer for more than half an hour.

But, that’s not the point of this post…

Its about our National Highways and Railways that are quickly turning into large scale Wildlife Killers. A recent CNN-IBN program showed a National Highway being built in Assam that passes through the forests cutting through the traditional elephant corridors and how the highway work ignores all recommendations/norms to be followed to enable the elephants cross the roads.

“The birth of a road implies the death of wilderness. When a road opens up an area, it serves as an ancillary to further development, as a result of which human footprint increases in the area.” says Prerna Singh Bindra, a conservation journalist in her blog titled: Inroads into Tiger Country

Its time we raise our voice against the Killer roads. Its time to care not just about us.

The gods don’t love us more than they love spiders or bears or whales or water lilies.
